Tahrir CutlureFest opens with a captivating performance by the Cairo Arab Choir! Join us for a 70-minute exploration of Arab music. The choir will present a selection of beloved songs, from the soulful strains of the 19th-century "Lama Bada Yatathana" to the modern classic "Feeha Haga Helwa" by Omar Khayrat. Relive the rousing spirit of "Shed ElHezam" by Sayed Darweesh and the whimsical charm of "Halawet Shamsena" by Ali Ismail. Feel the energy of "Haret El Sa'ayeen" by Mounir Moura and the timeless elegance of "Ya Ahl ElMahaba" by Abdel Moteleb.

The Cairo Arab Choir, a vibrant addition to AUC’s Department of Arts, was established in 2022. Proposed by alumna Ms. Reem Abdel Barr and founded by Dr. Wael ElMahallawy, the choir took shape, blossoming from its origins as an alumni singing group into a diverse tapestry of voices representing the entire AUC community including undergraduate and graduate students, alumni, faculty, staff and even enthusiastic community members, all sharing the passion to preserve and revitalize the rich tradition of classical Arab singing.
