This event is organized by AUC Press and Bookstores in collaboration with Tanmia Bookstores. This panel will explore the city's transformations and the struggles its people have faced. We will discuss Cairo's identity, its diverse historical classes, the ongoing conflict between identity and modernity and the people's suffering behind the architectural brilliance since the Fatimid era. We will also discuss the ongoing battles over the city's architectural character.
